Alex Alanis is a lobbyist and the principal owner of the The Alanis Group. In this role, he advocates and provides government relations services in Sacramento. He represents a diverse group of clients at the State Capitol and in front of state and local government agencies. Alex has 25 years experience working in politics and government relations. He has a Master of Arts degree in Political Management from the George Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from San Jose State University.
As a contract lobbyist, Alex has represented marketplace lenders, tech companies, California Indian Tribes, and grassroots groups. Prior to becoming an independent lobbyist, Alex spent 13 years as the Vice President of State Government Relations with the California Bankers Association where he focused on a variety of financial services and general business issues. In additional to providing lobbying services, Alex managed a political action committee.
Prior to joining the California Bankers Association, Alex spent ten years as a policy and fiscal consultant in the California State Senate. He managed a variety of subject areas, including transportation, housing, banking, energy, natural resources, and environmental protection. In addition to working in the State Senate, Alex was the legislative coordinator for the Fair Political Practices Commission.
Alex is a quick study and has the capacity to simultaneously manage a variety of difficult subject matters. He has excellent analytical, communication, and strategic skills. He can think quickly on his feet, adapt to changing situations, and bring disparate interests together to reach consensus on policy matters.
